…with the help of the new Precept website! Congratulations to the Precept team and the Silas team that has been working on this project for several months. While there are a lot of great ideas and features on this site, one area that we’re particularly excited about is the “What is Inductive Study?” feature on the homepage and accompanying introductory pages within the site. This is a great way to introduce new visitors to your ministry and to help them determine their next steps. Take some time to look through this new site!
I use Google Reader to read my RSS feeds. I’m subscribed to 173 feeds and in the past thirty days I’ve read scanned 7,750 items; I’ve probably read more like 6,000 items or about 200 items per day.

Anyone who’s worked with a church website can tell you: The hardest part isn’t coming up with the ideas, it’s coming up with the funding. In an age where web applications are expanding how people connect with each other, there are so many things you’d love to do with your website: Sermon podcasts, blogs, classifieds, small groups…but who has the money, and who has the time?
A lot of churches are finding clever ways to get interactive tools for free: establishing presence on Myspace, joining Facebook, and posting on YouTube, but while these solutions are certainly trendy, they don’t quite fit the actual needs most churches have.
Enter MyChurch.org, a Web 2.0 service focused on church community.
My review is after the jump:
That’s right, there is a Christian version of YouTube! GodTube is an online collection of videos honoring God. It’s actually in Beta right now and working very well!
Check out the Most Viewed page for some popular videos, including the Mac vs. PC parody series - which has “Christ-follower” talking with “Christian” about how to live a true Christian life. If you have a good sense of humor I highly recommend Baby Got Bible.
Check it out!
So my coworkers are probably groaning that I am yet again bringing up this website . However, I tell you that it holds minutes if not hours of amusement, especially if you don’t read Japanese.
The National Novel Writing Month (affectionately NaNoWriMo) is more like an online community (dating back to 1999!) than a month of recognition. Participants each agree to author an original novel no less than 50,000 words all during the 30 days of November. The experience includes “real-life” local meetups, coaching tips and advice in a forums section, and an interactive tool allowing you to track your word count progress and share it with friends.
As web technologies have advanced, so has NaNoWriMo’s experience, rising from 21 participants its first year to over 59,000 just a year ago. The founders have also expanded their original scope, as the website is the primary vehicle driving efforts including fundraising, founding libraries overseas, and starting a young writer’s program.
