Create buzz around your ministry

Posted by Jacob on June 26, 2007

I’ve posted about Twitter and how your ministry could use this technology to quickly update your constituents. A company called Frengo has launched a new way for ministries to create a mini Twitter network of their own, thanks to Mashable for the great write-up.

It take some thinking to figure out how your church or ministry could use this, but I think it is thinking worth doing. The mobile space is relatively untapped by ministries, which is a lost opportunity to connect with your audience.

Since each text message is going to cost your constituent something, you need to be returning value on each interaction. One way to do this that Frengo offers is the ability to ask a question and then receive replies from your constituents. Individual replys to your question would then go out over your network.

Again this takes some imagination, but I would say that could be a powerful way to connect your constituents to each other and increase the sense of community.

The possibilities in the mobile space are large, but it is also a steep learning curve. I’m hoping we have some adventurous clients or soon to be clients that will give us a chance to do some work in the space.
