One Link Thursday
Information security is good stewardshipNormally I would be posting a number of links today, but I thought it was important to post this one by itself. WEP wireless encryption was cracked in less than two minutes this week. To find out what that means for your church or ministry read on.
Why does that matter to churches and ministries? Many of you are setting up Wi-Fi networks in your places of business and if you are using WEP encryption you are asking for trouble.
Computer security is often overlooked as something that churches and ministries don’t have to worry about because “everybody that works here is honest.” While that may be true that doesn’t mean the person sitting in your parking lot listening in on your Wi-Fi is honest.
Again, I believe information security to be a stewardship issue, which is why raise this issue here. So if your church or ministry is using WEP or even worse no Wi-Fi encryption ask them to switch to WPA. It is easy to do and it solves this issue once and for all.
