Fundraising Information Ad Nauseam

Posted by Rhea on February 27, 2007

Chronicle of Philantrophy recently launched a new service called “Give and Take” which they have succinctly subtitled “A roundup of blogs about the nonprofit world.” They’ve done a great job of keeping articles short, with links to the full articles or websites in the discussions.

Enjoy!

Devotionals 2/26/07

Posted by Katy on February 26, 2007

This week was a Lent reading, from Luke’s gospel.

“At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, ‘Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod wants to kill you.’

He replied, ‘Go tell that fox, “I will drive out demons and heal people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.” In any case, I must keep going today and tomorrow and the next day - for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem! O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! Look, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” ‘ ”
Luke 13:31-35 (New International Version)

Home for a few days!

Posted by Fedor on February 23, 2007

Here it is… 1131.  This was home for some of us for the past week.  I’m thankful for our good location, corners are always good!  Silas Partners was across from ADRA and next to Gospel For Asia.

There were so many amazing organizations at NRB this year.  A few aisles down were some of our new co-workers.  This is Mary and Alexis from Trinet.  They were a lot of fun!

Weekly Link Roundup, Feb. 22

idealware on Basic Overviews: Three, count them three links for the price of one! An introduction to Tagging, RSS and Image Blocking are all right at your fingertips.

GigaOM on Google Office: Last night Google launched a premium version of the Google Apps product. We had been recommending this to some clients for their email needs. The good news for ministries is a free version will remain. I agree with Om’s analysis that this is a shot across the Microsoft Office bow.

Slashdot on SETI@home: The project finally found something, a stolen laptop!

Where are the Illustrations?

A continuing investigative report
Posted by michael on February 21, 2007

For sometime now (ten years) I’ve been trying to humanize the web experience with hand generated illustrations or effects. It is one lonely crusade out here. Since before “graphic design” was termed, illustrations have been used to visually communicate message, tone, desired audience and so on.

However the web is void of Read more >>

June is here!

Posted by Fedor on February 20, 2007

June Hunt from Hope for the Heart has been here doing her broadcast daily as well as participating in a bunch of panel discussions and events. She has such a sweet personality. The site Silas Partners assisted her ministry on has launched and the staff is happy! We are happy! We love the new site too! You should also check out a new project she’s working on - iQuestions - it’s a place for people to go who are struggling with life’s issues and allows them to hear biblical direction and encouragement in many areas of life.

A View from The Booth

As Manager of Partner Relations I find it very exciting here in location 1131! Connecting people and helping people to find what they’re looking for is where I get a lot of energy. This is the prime spot for me to be :) People are everywhere and talking with organizations and ministries that can help one another. There are a lot of people that I’ve talked with today who have a real heart for the gospel, and that encourages me tremendously. This morning Jamey and Pete from Precept stopped by for a while - and they are really excited about the launching of their new site. They both told our staff to push them to keep moving the project along. It’s going to be great! They are good people!

The Press

This is Silas Man checking in for the day :) This morning went well. Unfortunately, the camera crew experienced some technical difficulties, I’m hoping to get a photo or 2 up by the end of today. It was great to interact with such great people at the press conference. There were a lot of questions about my role here at the conference.

2 Corinthians 5:20b - 6:10, a reading that was recommended for Ash Wednesday. This is the New Living Translation, but we were espcially glad to be using the Lumko method today as our understanding of the passage changed with each translation. Check out BibleGateway for a great way to read different versions.
